Greek Coffee

€29.00

The origins of Greek coffee, also known as Moka Coffee, can be traced back to the Ottoman Empire, where it was introduced in the 16th century by a governor stationed in Yemen. For centuries, the small city of Mocha was the only gateway for coffee sold internationally. Regulated by their Ottoman rulers, coffee beans were forbidden to leave Yemen without first being roasted to prevent germination. The drink rapidly spread across Ottoman trade routes to Europe. The coffee became very popular in Greece during the 19th century.
